Mr. Muir graduated from
Brigham Young University, J. Reuben Clark Law School in 1983 and subsequently
earned an LL.M., or Master of Laws, in Taxation from the University of the
Pacific, McGeorge School of Law. He has been admitted to all Nevada Courts
since 1983, the U.S. Tax Court since 1984 and the U.S. District Courts for the
Districts of Nevada and Northern California. Mr. Muir is an accomplished
speaker and has been a lecturer on the faculty of the Golden Gate University, Graduate School
of Tax, and has also been an instructor/speaker on various estate and tax planning topics for
the Nevada CPA Foundation, National Business Institute, Inc., the State Bar of
Nevada, and various other public and private groups. Mr. Muir is a member and past
President of the Northern Nevada Estate Planning Council and is also a member
of the State Bar of Nevada (Probate, Trust and Tax Sections), the Washoe County
Bar Association, the National Lawyers Association, and the Nevada Justice
Darcy K. Houghton
Darcy K. Houghton, Esq. has been practicing law for almost 20 years. She joined Hawkins, Folsom & Muir in 2015. She has a diverse background in financial services and business law which lends itself well to helping families & their businesses plan for the future. Prior to joining the firm, Darcy worked as Vice President, Client Advisor at the Whittier Trust Company of Nevada. While there, she worked with ultra high net worth clients from around the country, helping them to take advantage of the benefits of a Nevada trust situs. Prior to that, Darcy managed her own law firm in Carson City, NV where she practiced in estate planning and business law.
Darcy obtained her undergraduate degree in Accounting at the University of Colorado, Boulder and her Juris Doctor from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law. She is admitted to practice law in all state courts in Nevada, the US District Court for the State of Nevada and the Supreme Court of the United States. Darcy obtained her Martindale Hubbell AV Peer Review Rating in 2011. She is very involved in both professional and community organizations and serves on the board of directors for the Estate Planning Council of Northern Nevada, the Sacramento Estate Planning Council, the Wealth Counsel Nevada Forum, Sierra Lutheran High School and Western Nevada College.
David Gamble Jr.
David J. Gamble, Jr. is an associate attorney with the law firm of Hawkins, Folsom & Muir. Mr. Gamble’s practice focuses in the areas of estate planning, probate, and related litigation.
Mr. Gamble has wide-ranging experience which grants him unique insight into estate planning and elder law matters. Mr. Gamble worked extensively in the area of divorce and family law, having served as law clerk to the honorable Judge Bridget E. Robb in the Family Division of the Second Judicial District Court of Nevada. Following his clerkship, Mr. Gamble moved into divorce and family law practice, with a focus on high asset divorce litigation. Mr. Gamble also helped to educate judges in the areas of domestic violence and child abuse/neglect while working for the non-profit National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges. Moreover, Mr. Gamble assisted in advising the U.S. Senate, Congress, and the White House on Social Security policy during his time with the Washington D.C.-based Social Security Advisory Board.
Prior to entering practice, Mr. Gamble graduated from Thomas Jefferson School of Law with dean’s list honors. During law school Mr. Gamble placed among the top 10% of students in Legal Writing & Research, Contracts, and Civil Procedure. Mr. Gamble was further invited to join the prestigious Moot Court Honor Society. Mr. Gamble is a Reno native, and holds a B.A. in Journalism from the University of Nevada’s Reynolds School of Journalism.
